🐉 Fiat Ducato 2.3 Gearbox Oil Change

I have a Fiat Ducato Campervan 1.9TD 2001 SWB, and the 5th gear creates a very loud whine, a bit too much to bother turning the radio on as it is so loud! I had the gearbox rebuilt (New clutch, bearings etc) but couldn't find a replacement 5th gear so stuck with what we had, and the noise is still there! 99.999% certain it is a MG5TU box.

They all say that refill is through a breather with a black plastic cap on the top of the gearbox next to the air filter but mine does not seem to have the breather. I looked around the gearbox underneath and found the sump plug to empty it (8mm allen key).

As Corcai said, once you disconnect the driveshafts, it's not so bad. I have never worked on anything like this before and I wouldn't be in any hurry to repeat the experience.
